Arginine AKG is a chemical compound formed by the combination of the semi-essential amino acid arginine and alpha-ketoglutarate ( AKG ). This combination may improve the absorption and bioavailability of arginine. It is a semi-essential amino acid, meaning that the human body can produce it, but not always in sufficient quantities.

Arginine is found naturally in protein-rich foods, such as meat, fish, dairy products, nuts, and seeds. It can also be synthesized in the body from citrulline .

The manufacture of AKG arginine powder begins with a controlled chemical reaction between arginine and alpha-ketoglutarate, often with catalysts and temperature and pH adjustments.

The resulting mixture is then filtered to remove solid impurities and crystallized to isolate arginine AKG in the form of pure crystals . These crystals are separated by centrifugation and dried by freeze-drying. Then, the dried crystals are ground into a fine and homogeneous powder , which is subjected to rigorous quality controls before being packaged in jars.
