This oil is extracted from the seeds of safflower, a herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family, native to Western Asia and North Africa. Today, its cultivation extends to various regions of the world, including North America, India and Australia. The extraction of safflower oil follows a rigorous process . The seeds are usually harvested in summer, when the flowers wither and the seeds reach maturity. The latter are then carefully cleaned to remove any impurities before being pressed to extract the oil.
