DESCRIPTION
This product is a sports food supplement that is almost entirely composed of Ajinomoto® labeled glutamine . Glutamine is a semi-essential amino acid found in abundance in the human body, particularly in muscles and blood . The term semi-essential, which can also be called conditionally essential, means that our body can normally produce enough of it, but under certain physiological conditions such as stress or intense exercise the demand can exceed the production capacity .
Glutamine is found in a variety of foods , both animal and plant-based . Major sources include meats such as beef, chicken, and fish, as well as dairy products such as milk, cheese, and yogurt. Among plant sources, legumes such as beans, lentils, and chickpeas are significantly rich in glutamine. Additionally, leafy green vegetables such as spinach and kale, as well as nuts and seeds such as almonds and sunflower seeds, also contain appreciable amounts of this amino acid.
The discovery of glutamine dates back to the early 19th century , when French chemist Louis-Nicolas Vauquelin isolated glutamic acid from casein , a protein found in milk. In 1883, Ernst Schulze and Ernst Steiger also identified glutamic acid in wheat, laying the foundation for its recognition as an amino acid. Shortly thereafter, researchers discovered glutamine as a neutralized form of glutamic acid found in proteins. Advances in analytical and synthetic techniques in the 20th century have greatly enriched our understanding of glutamine and its crucial role in human metabolism.
